You are the children of the LORD your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead, for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession. – Deuteronomy 14:1-2

Indeed we are the children of the Lord, the one and only God. May we worship Him and Him alone; may we be wise in what we read and listen. May we keep ourselves clean because we are the Lord’s.

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may remember that it isn’t just ‘You are my God’, but also, ‘I am your child.’ May You be my guide in living in accordance to this truth; bless me with wisdom as I go through what I hear and what I see day by day, and teach me how to live a life worthy of one who is Your child. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

May 28, 2012 - Deuteronomy 13:1-18; 14:1-29

Be careful not to forget the covenant of the LORD your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the LORD your God has forbidden. For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. – Deutoronomy 4:23-24

Lord, I understand that when things go my way, when you bless me and show your faithfulness to me, I tend to forget being grateful to you, being mindful of you, and instead turn to other worldly things. I desire and crave for other things instead of you, instead of being satisfied with you Lord. I forget your instructions, your promises, your goodness, your desire for me to only live for you alone. Forgive me for my forgetful heart, if I have hurt you by turning to other temporal and worldly things instead of following, obeying, and remembering your place in my life as my father, my God, my provider, my shelter, my refuge and my strength.

Drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you. Destroy all their carved images and their cast idols and demolish all their high places. - Numbers 33:52h
Heavenly God, I am sorry for giving more time to unnecessary things. Forgive me for idolizing other things besides you. Forgive me for “worshipping” my gadgets and making technology my “god” sometimes. Forgive me for being proud and taking the merit and glory for things that You have helped me accomplish. Father God, forgive me for I have not been focusing and concentrating on You alone. Pardon me for being easily distracted by unimportant things.

May 18, 2012Numbers 33:1-33:56

The LORD said to Moses, “Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, has turned my anger away from the Israelites. Since he was as zealous for my honor among them as I am, I did not put an end to them in my zeal. Therefore tell him I am making my covenant of peace with him.” – Numbers 25:10 – 12
Father God, may You always help me live a life of zeal for You, for Your honor and glory. I pray that You help me live a life consecrated to You, that proclaims Your reign, Your power, and Your salvation over me. In Jesus’ mighty Name, AMEN.

May 10, 2012Numbers 25:1 – 26:22

But Balaam replied to Balak, “Didn’t I tell you that I can do only what the Lord tells me?” - Numbers 23:26
Dear Lord, what I would give to be the kind of person Balaam was, a man whose eyes see clearly, a man who hears Your words, who receives knowledge and visions from You. Lord, I want to be powerless to do anything against your will. I pray that You be the one to guide and teach me to do only the things you want me to. Please be my strength to follow through. Help me understand that the only time I am ever strong is when I am obeying and depending on you with my whole heart. AMEN.

May 9, 2012Numbers 23:12-24:25

The angel of the Lord asked him, “Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me. – Numbers 22:32
How many times in our lives have we thought – whether consciously or not – that we know better than our superiors, our elders, and God? Probably more than we would care to count. The chances of our scoffing at an advice given to us, or letting words of wisdom pass through one ear and out the other, are pretty high. It’s the sin of pride; it’s that voice in our heads that somehow gets louder whenever we choose to refuse to listen to somebody else. When we’re blinded by our pride, we tend to overlook that God’s just looking out for us.
Dear amazing, all-knowing, and sovereign God, I thank You that You know the plans that You have for me. I thank You that You know what’s best, that You know everything, and that You have control over my life. I thank You Lord because You will always have my back, and that You are a constant in my life. Lord, forgive me for the times that I refuse to acknowledge and follow Your commands even when I know that my actions displease You. I’m sorry Father, for the times that I put myself above You, for putting my pride ahead of obeying and honoring You. I’m sorry for the reckless path that I have chosen. Help me to humble my heart, dear God, and teach me to put my relationship with You above everything else. Allow me to learn from my mistakes and may they just bring me closer to You. I love You, Lord. In Christ’s name I pray, AMEN.

May 8, 2012Numbers 22:1 - 23:12

The LORD said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived. – Numbers 21:8-9
Heavenly Father, your words are life. Like those who looked up to the snake on a pole and lived, may I also focus on Your Son Jesus Christ in whom I have a living hope. May You also use me to lead others to Jesus so that they may find eternal life. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.

May 7, 2012 Numbers 20:22 – 21:35

But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.” - Numbers 20:12

Lord, I am sorry for the times that I am too focused with my problems and the current hardships in my life, that I forget to put my entire trust in You alone. I am sorry, if sometimes I am like the Israelites and I forget the many blessings You continue to give me. Please help me to put my trust in You with everything I’m going through and to stand up for you in the midst of opposition. AMEN.

May 6, 2012 Number 19:1-20:21

You must present as the LORD’s portion the best and holiest part of everything given to you. - Numbers 18:29
Everything we have in life right now is something that God has given to us. Whatever it is, you can always trace it back to God. Now since we know that, how come sometimes we still cannot seem to fully trust God in providing all our needs? Sometimes we have a hard time parting with our resources because we feel we might need it for an unknown need. But, brothers and sisters in Christ, I encourage you to give all your best to God. Offer it to him as a thanksgiving gift for all the blessings and he has given and I am sure, that God will bless you so much more.
Father, I am sorry that I may not be giving my best to you when you deserve so much more. Lord I ask that you guide me in discerning what are the things that I should continue to offer to you. I pray that you continue to remind me that I should always offer my best to you out of a heart that loves you and not out of obligation. AMEN.

May 5, 2012 – Numbers 17:1 - 18:32

Moses and Aaron and his sons were to camp to the east of the tabernacle, toward the sunrise, in front of the Tent of Meeting. They were responsible for the care of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death. – Leviticus 3:38
Father God, You are holy; You cannot tolerate sin. Yet You are also merciful. Although I am a sinner, doomed to perish in Your presence, You still made a way for me to be in fellowship with You. During Moses’ time You set apart the Levites who would offer sacrifices to You, in their behalf, so that Israel’s sins may be forgiven. And now You have provided me Your one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to be both priest and sacrificial lamb, that I may be forgiven of my sins. Thank You, God. May Your name be praised forever and ever. AMEN.
